Unbelievable Luxury Awaits: St. Hubertus Hotel, Gramado, Brazil!

Okay, buckle up buttercups, because we're diving headfirst into the, ahem, "Unbelievable Luxury" of the St. Hubertus Hotel in Gramado, Brazil. And let me tell you, after experiencing it, I've got STRONG opinions. This isn't your sanitized, pre-packaged review; this is a real-world, warts-and-all dissection of what awaits.

First Impressions: The "Wow" Factor (and a Slight "Uh-Oh")

Gramado itself is gorgeous. Think Bavarian village meets Brazilian flair. And the St. Hubertus? Well, it looks stunning. Perched on a lake, all gingerbread architecture and promises of romance…it's the kind of place that makes you want to whip out your phone and Instagram the heck out of everything. (Speaking of which: Internet access is a breeze! Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! Thank goodness.)

My initial giddy excitement, however, was quickly tempered by a minor logistical hurdle. You see, I'm a bit of a klutz. When I tried to find the elevator, it wasn't where I expected… let's just say it was an adventure navigating the charming, but slightly… labyrinthine corridors. But hey, good exercise, right? And once I reached my room… gasp

The Room: Sanctuary or Showroom?

The rooms! Oh, the rooms. Mine, a Non-smoking room, was a testament to cozy elegance. Air conditioning, Blackout curtains, a giant Extra long bed (thank heavens!), a Seating area perfect for collapsing in after a day of exploration…and, thankfully, I’m happy that I can open the window that opens! The little touches, like Bathrobes, Slippers, and a well-stocked Mini bar, made me feel like royalty. There was even a Complimentary tea and Free bottled water. (Important when you're battling jet lag!) But…and there’s always a "but", isn't there? – I was slightly overwhelmed by the… sheer amount of stuff. It felt less like a cozy retreat and more like someone had decorated a small museum. (I'm just saying, a slightly less fussy aesthetic would have been perfect).

Accessibility…Let's Be Honest

Alright, let's get real. While the St. Hubertus says it has Facilities for disabled guests, I’d strongly advise calling ahead and specifically discussing your needs. While there's an Elevator, navigating some areas, like the (gorgeous!) Terrace, might be a challenge. This is certainly something to consider if you're looking for seamless Wheelchair accessible facilities.

Cleanliness and Safety: The New Normal

This is where St. Hubertus excels. In this post-COVID world, I was extra observant. The commitment to hygiene was palpable. Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere, and the staff was clearly trained in Safety protocol. I saw them Daily disinfection in common areas, and the rooms were Rooms sanitized between stays. It was reassuring, even if it did mean feeling a little…sterile at times. They even used Anti-viral cleaning products! I mean, what’s not to love about extra hygiene? I didn’t spot the Sterilizing equipment personally, but hey…I wasn’t looking for it either.

Dining: A Feast for the Eyes, and Sometimes the Stomach

The dining experience at the St. Hubertus is definitely an aspect that really blew me away. The Breakfast [buffet], included in my stay, was a vast and tempting spread of Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, and everything in between. It was like a culinary world tour! I loved the fresh fruit and the strong Brazilian coffee. The Coffee shop was also a winner, perfect for a quick caffeine fix.

And you know how I'm a total foodie? The restaurants, well, that's where things got a bit…hit or miss. The A la carte in restaurant option was nice, and the Asian cuisine in restaurant was interesting, but I found some dishes to be a bit…pretentious. The Desserts in restaurant were divine, though, and completely worth the calories. I did not try the Vegetarian restaurant as I don’t have a restriction, nor did I get to enjoy the Salad in restaurant, or the Soup in restaurant. (Oh, there’s also a Bottle of water at all times). The Poolside bar was ideal for a sunset cocktail. (The Happy hour was also a welcome addition!) However, I was hoping for a more authentic experience, food wise.

One more thing: I did utilize the Room service [24-hour] one night, and it came in handy when I was battling some travel fatigue.

Relaxation Central: Spa, Sauna, and…More Spa!

Okay, let's talk about bliss. The spa at St. Hubertus is a total game-changer. I spent an entire afternoon there. The Spa, Sauna, and Steamroom were all top-notch; I especially enjoyed the Foot bath, and the Massage—pure, unadulterated heaven! Afterward, I had a Body scrub and Body wrap, which left me feeling like I was floating on a cloud. If you’re looking to unwind (which, let's be honest, you probably are), this is the place to do it. The Pool with view adds another layer of beauty.

Things To Do (Besides Lounging by the Pool)

Gramado offers a lot beyond the hotel! There are charming shops, restaurants, and attractions to explore. The concierge (a godsend!) was incredibly helpful in arranging Airport transfer, recommending places to visit, and even finding me a Taxi service. They have Car park [free of charge] and Car park [on-site]. They do have a Bicycle parking area for the more active people. I didn’t utilize any of those. The Luggage storage and Daily housekeeping were also massive helps.

Services and Conveniences: They've Got You Covered

The St. Hubertus is geared toward making your life easy. They offer Cash withdrawal, have a Convenience store in an emergency, and even provide Currency exchange. Essential Air conditioning in public area is a plus. The Laundry service and Dry cleaning are great for keeping your travel wardrobe fresh. They even send you an Invoice provided when you leave. (How very professional!) However, I’m not sure if they have Ironing service, as mine was still a wrinkly mess by the end of my stay.

For the Kids & Extra Perks

While I didn't have kids with me, I noticed they were definitely catering to families. They seemed to have Babysitting service and facilities, a Family/child-friendly atmosphere with Kids facilities and Kids meal, so families would be at ease!

The Quirks: The Good, the Bad, and the Slightly Bizarre

  • The Shrinking Soap Phenomenon: The soap in my bathroom mysteriously vanished in a matter of hours. I'm assuming it was the humidity? Or maybe it just dissolved from all the washing I was doing!
  • The "Proposal Spot": Seriously, there's an area specifically designated for proposals? Talk about pressure!
  • The "Couple's Room": They offer these rooms, which I found adorable!

My Honest Verdict: Worth the Hype? (With a Few Caveats)

The St. Hubertus Hotel is undeniably luxurious. It's a beautiful, well-appointed hotel with excellent amenities and a stunning location. The spa is divine, the service is generally impeccable, and the commitment to cleanliness is reassuring. However, it's not perfect. Some areas could be more accessible, the rooms, while comfortable, can feel a little…over-decorated, and the dining experience, while varied, occasionally misses the mark.

But…

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Especially if you're looking for a romantic getaway, a relaxing spa escape, or a base for exploring Gramado. Just go in with open eyes, a sense of humor, and a willingness to embrace the slightly eccentric charm.

And now, a tantalizing offer to get you here!

Okay, buckle up, Buttercups, because planning a trip to Hotel Estalagem St. Hubertus in Gramado, Brazil, ain't just about pretty pictures and perfectly curated itineraries. This is REAL LIFE travel planning. And, frankly? I’m already stressed just thinking about it. But here we go, raw and unfiltered, a testament to my inherent chaos.

Operation: Gramado Getaway - A Pre-Trip Diary of Potential Disaster (and Undeniable Charm)

Phase 1: The Dream (aka, the Pinterest Board)

  • Destination: Hotel Estalagem St. Hubertus, Gramado, Brazil. (Oh. My. God. Look at those photos. The lake, the cozy fireplaces, the chocolate…)
  • Duration: A gloriously indulgent 5 days (or, at least, that’s what I told the bank account).
  • Goal: To transform into a relaxed, effortlessly chic human being. (Highly unlikely, but a girl can dream of swapping sweatpants for a flowy sundress, right?)
  • Initial Mood: Overwhelmed by the possibilities. Seriously, there are SO MANY beautiful places, restaurants, and things to do in Gramado. How do I even…?!

Phase 2: The Logistics (Where the Fun REALLY Starts)

  • Flights: Okay, here’s where the cracks start to show. Flights from [Insert your location] are…let's just say, an investment. I'm currently wrestling with the "direct flight vs. layover in a country I don't speak the language" debate. Send wine (and a Rosetta Stone).
  • Accommodation: Obviously, the St. Hubertus. I have spent hours staring at the room options, trying to decide if I really need the lake view. (Spoiler alert: I do. I need the lake view like a fish needs water. Just the thought of sitting on the balcony with a cafezinho while writing a book sounds so idyllic.) SIGH. I’m leaning towards the Deluxe Suite, because I’m worth it. Although, wait, do I really need the fireplace? Maybe I should just get the standard room. No. No. No. This IS the trip. Treat. Your. Self.
  • Transportation: Renting a car seems the sensible option, right? Gives us the freedom to explore the region, the surrounding towns, and not be at the mercy of buses. OR should I just embrace the whole "lazy tourist" vibe and hire a car with a driver? I'm already envisioning myself lost in a Brazilian town.
  • Money Matters: Okay, let’s be blunt: Brazil is expensive. Converting currencies is a chore. Trying to figure out the current exchange rate is a headache. The real problem? Staying on budget. I told myself I’d stick to a strict budget, but I'm already imagining myself going wild in a chocolate shop, filling a suitcase with souvenirs, and racking up credit card debt. (Shhh! Don't tell anyone.)

Phase 3: The Itinerary - Or, The Illusion of Control

  • Day 1: Arrival & Initial Swooning

    • Arrive at Porto Alegre Airport (POA). Try not to panic at the language difference.

    • Transportation from the airport to Gramado (let's just say, car rental or private transfer - undecided).

    • Check into the St. Hubertus. (Expect: A gasp of pure joy. Maybe a little happy dance. Definitely photo overload).

    • Unpack. Survey the room. Immediately fall in love with the view.

    • Evening: Stroll around the grounds. Settle in for dinner in the hotel's restaurant (I've heard their Ossobuco is to die for). Expect to feel completely and utterly charmed.

    • Emotional Burst: Okay, seriously! I'm already dreaming of this. Just thinking about the smell of the wood fire and the quiet of the lake is making me feel like I'm gonna cry. Pure, unadulterated bliss. Even the thought of that Ossobuco got me drooling.

  • Day 2: Gramado Exploration & Chocolate Overload

    • Morning: Explore the town of Gramado. (The "Rua Coberta" is a must-see - a beautiful, covered street filled with boutiques and restaurants.)
    • Afternoon: Dive headfirst into the chocolate scene. (Believe me, Brazil, especially Gramado, takes its chocolate very seriously. I mean, it has to be right? It has to be!) Visit as many chocolate shops as humanly possible. (I'm prepared to gain 5 pounds. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make).
    • Evening: Dinner at a traditional Brazilian steakhouse (Churrascaria). (Get ready for a carnivore's paradise. And prepare to loosen your belt a notch or two…or three.)
    • Quirky Observation: I fully expect to develop a serious chocolate addiction. I picture myself wandering the streets in a daze, fueled by cocoa and pure happiness. Will I need to bring an extra suitcase just for chocolate? Probably. I'm already making room.
  • Day 3: Exploring the Canela & a bit of the Waterfall.

    • Morning: Explore the town of Canela, a beautiful town close to Gramado.
    • Afternoon: Go to Caracol Park and Caracol Falls. Another beautiful place to visit.
    • Evening: Visit a famous fondue restaurant (I have to research the best ones, the ones with the coziest vibes).
    • Emotional Reaction: Feeling the need to enjoy the nature, and make some time to enjoy the calmness of it, and not forget to relax, relax and relax!
  • Day 4: The Spa Day I've Been Dreaming Of

    • Morning: SLEEP IN! (Seriously, after a few days of exploring, I’m going to need every extra minute of sleep I can get.)
    • Afternoon: Spa Day at the hotel. (Massages, facials, mani-pedis…the works. This is where the "relaxed human being" transformation will hopefully kick in.)
    • Evening: Drinks by the lake. Reflect on life, the universe, and the fact that I’m finally on vacation.
    • Anecdote: *Okay, if the spa doesn't deliver, I might riot. I've been picturing this spa day for months. I'm expecting to emerge feeling like a brand new, slightly more zen me. It's *essential.
  • Day 5: Farewell, For Now

    • Morning: One last lazy breakfast at the hotel. Soak in the last views. Take another million photos. (I’m already going to be drowning in pictures).
    • Check out. With a heavy heart.
    • Depart from Porto Alegre Airport (POA).
    • Messy Structure: Okay, this is where it falls apart. I might miss my flight. I might leave something behind at the hotel. I might accidentally buy a souvenir the size of a small car. The possibilities for disaster are truly endless. But you know what? That's part of the fun, right? It's all part of the adventure!

Phase 4: The Aftermath (aka, Post-Vacation Depression)

  • Expect to return home slightly richer (in experiences, not coin), slightly fatter (from the chocolate), and with a serious case of "I-need-to-go-back-to-Brazil" fever.
  • And most likely, in need of another vacation to recover from this vacation.

Final Thoughts

This itinerary is a work in progress. It will inevitably change. I'm sure I'll get lost. I'm sure I'll make mistakes. I'm sure I'll have moments of pure, unadulterated joy. And that, my friends, is the beauty of travel. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go re-evaluate my budget… and maybe eat a piece of chocolate. Wish me luck!

Unbelievable Luxury Awaits: St. Hubertus Hotel, Gramado - Let's Get Real, Folks!

So, is St. Hubertus REALLY as ridiculously fancy as it looks in the photos?

Okay, deep breath. YES. And then some. Picture this: you arrive, and the lobby practically *whispers* luxury. Think shimmering chandeliers, and enough dark wood to make a Viking longship envious. The photos? They don't even *BEGIN* to capture the subtle, understated (and frankly, intimidating) elegance. I swear, I felt underdressed in my best jeans. I spent the first hour just wandering around, mouth agape, silently judging everyone's impeccably tailored outfits. It's the kind of place where you worry about breathing too loudly, lest you disturb the peace of… well, everything.

Let's talk about the rooms. Worth the price tag?

Alright, the rooms. Now, this is where it gets…complicated. Are they luxurious? Absolutely. Think fireplaces, balconies overlooking that stunning lake, and beds you could get *lost* in. The bathroom? Marble. And the little soaps and lotions? Forget about it, pure indulgence. BUT… here’s my messy, slightly critical truth: My room, which I’d booked weeks in advance through... well, let's just say a VERY reputable travel site, wasn't *quite* what I expected. Minor issue, yes, but when you're dropping this kind of coin on a room, you EXPECT perfection. And well, lets just say the view wasn't the greatest. Still, the bed? Amazing. I'd happily live in that bed. Maybe the price tag is a *tad* much, but hey, it's Gramado, and you're paying for the experience, the *VIBE*, of being pampered within an inch of your life.

What about the views? That lake looks magical.

Oh, the lake. *Sigh*. It IS magical. Seriously, it's one of those "pinch me, I'm dreaming" moments. Waking up to that view, mist clinging to the water, the colorful houses on the other side of the lake...it's postcard-perfect. I spent a solid hour on my balcony each morning, just staring. Once, I even saw a *deer*. Okay, it was probably just a really big squirrel, but in my mind, it was a deer. The only downside? The balcony chairs. They looked beautiful, yes. But they were made of a very hard wood and after an hour of reading, my butt was NOT happy.

The food! Tell me about the food!

Okay, the food. This is where the St. Hubertus REALLY shines. Breakfast is an experience. A glorious, carb-filled experience. Freshly baked bread, pastries that practically melt in your mouth, local cheeses, and enough fruit to make you feel virtuous (even if you immediately ruined it with a pain au chocolat). Dinner? Out of this world. I had a dish with duck confit that I’m still dreaming about. And the wine list? Prepare to weep tears of joy (or, you know, empty your wallet). The only tiny, TINY downside? The portion sizes. I was so full I thought I might burst after most meals. But hey, a full belly is a happy belly, right?

Any downsides? Be honest!

Alright, unvarnished truth time. It's not all sunshine and roses. Here's my brutally honest take:

  • **The Price:** It's expensive. REALLY expensive. You need a serious travel fund (or a very understanding bank account).
  • **The Stuffy-ish Atmosphere:** While beautiful, it's not exactly the place to let loose. The hushed tones and the overall air of refinement can be a bit…much at times. I felt like I was constantly on my best behavior (which, let's be honest, is a struggle for me).
  • **The Hard Chairs:** I said it before and I'll say it again. Those chairs!
  • **The Pressure to Dress Up:** I mean, yes, I knew it was a fancy hotel, but I didn't expect to feel judged for my, ahem, *comfortable* travel attire at breakfast. Maybe bring a blazer. And some extra deodorant.

Okay, so… would you go back?

Absolutely. Without hesitation. Despite the minor niggles, the St. Hubertus is a truly special place. The beauty of the location, the incredible service, the amazing food… it's an experience. It's a splurge, yes, but it's a splurge that’s worth saving for, like, REALLY saving for. Just… pack comfortable shoes for all the walking and maybe a cushion for the balcony. And try not to spill coffee on the Persian rugs. (Did I do that? Maybe.)

Any tips for making the most of your stay?

  • **Book in Advance:** Especially if you want a room with a specific view. Seriously, weeks ahead of time.
  • **Pack Appropriately:** You'll want to look the part. Dress codes aren't strictly enforced, but it helps to fit in.
  • **Embrace the Decadence:** Order that extra glass of wine. Indulge in that spa treatment. You're there to treat yourself!
  • **Take advantage of the activities** - from the lake to the local shops, Gramado offers a wealth of experiences, so explore!
  • **Get Ready to Relax:** This is not a place for rushing around. Take your time to enjoy the hotel and its surroundings to experience the most of the hotel.

Final Thoughts?

The St. Hubertus Hotel is an investment in an experience. Is it perfect? No. But the good far outweighs the bad. It's a memory-maker, a place to celebrate a special occasion, or just escape the mundane. If you have the chance (and the budget!), GO. Just be warned: you might come back with a serious case of "post-luxury blues." I did. And I'm already plotting my return… and this time, I'm bringing a better cushion.
